4, 2015 — Total Lunar Eclipse
This total lunar eclipse will occur on April 4, 2015. Most of North America, South America, Asia and parts of Australia will be able to see the eclipse. The eastern coast of the United States will be treated to an early morning eclipse, while locations in South Asia will experience the eclipse in the evening. The eclipse will last for 3 hours and 29 mins from beginning to end. The Moon will be totally eclipsed (totality) for about 5 minutes. ---------- 2014-2015 lunar tetrad The first total eclipse in this lunar tetrad was on April 15, 2014. The second was October 8, 2014. The next two will be on: April 4, 2015 September 28, 2015 All four total lunar eclipses will be visible from most of the United States. ---------- Apr 4, 2015 — Total Lunar Eclipse This April 4 eclipse is the third in a tetrad, a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses in 2014 – 2015. ---------- Is this Partial Lunar Eclipse visible in Seattle? YES! Next eclipse visible in Seattle April 4, 2015 — Partial Lunar Eclipse The photo shows approximately what the eclipse looks like from the night side of earth. During this total lunar eclipse, the Earth's shadow covers only parts of the Moon, as seen from Seattle. There are no other locations on Earth where the Moon appears completely covered during this event. The Earth's shadow covers a large portion of the Moon, so this is still a nice sight. More about the April 4, 2015 — Partial Lunar Eclipse ---------- According to NASA, the current century – 2001 to 2100 – will have eight tetrads. The first tetrad of the 21st century took place in 2003, and the second will happen in 2014-2015. The first eclipses in each of these tetrads will occur between March and May.
