The total solar eclipse will be visible from most locations in the United States. This eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse visible from contiguous United States since 1979. The total phase of the eclipse will be visible from locations spanning from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States. The last time this happened was during the June 8, 1918 total solar eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 15:45 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The maximum point of the eclipse will take place near Hopkinsville, Kentucky at 18:20 UTC. Totality will last for 2 mins 40 secs.
