in the United States.
This eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse visible
from contiguous United States since 1979.
The total phase of the eclipse will be visible from locations
 spanning from 
the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States.
The last time this happened was during the
June 8, 1918 total solar eclipse.

The eclipse will begin at 15:45 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

The maximum point of the eclipse
will take place near Hopkinsville, Kentucky at 18:20 UTC.

Totality will last for 2 mins 40 secs.

For the first time in 99 years, a Total Eclipse of the Sun
will be conveniently witnessed from coast to coast of the United States.

Goldendale, WA is slightly North of the Path of Totality
but the Observatory will be open
for special hours from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.
​​Crowds are expected to be extreme;
Observatory Hill will be closed to traffic during this event and overnight parking is not permitted.
Advance reservations are not being taken
and facility access will be gained on a first come,
first serve basis via shuttle buses staging
at Goldendale High School, starting around 7 a.m.

Five viewing stations will be available for visitors: 
  • Goldendale Observatory (via shuttle bus)
  • Klickitat County Courthouse Lawn  
  • Stonehenge Memorial
  • Maryhill  Museum of Art
  • Maryhill Winery
